Creativity Is A Curious Thing

Creativity is a curious thing.

There are countless definitions that try to describe what creativity is and how it can be applied, but there will never be a complete thought that fully captures its meaning in each of our lives.

Sure, it’s a combination of worldly wisdom, perspective, and the accumulation of existing ideas and failures from multiple disciplines, but the “creativity formula” changes every day and each of us are gifted to apply it differently. And this is part of the reason that creativity and innovation is hard. You can’t just read a definition or apply a thread of knowledge and “be creative.”

So, why is all of this important?

Well, Einstein – you know, the theoretical physicist genius-guy from Germany? He once said, “imagination is more important than knowledge.” Do you agree?

We study to gain knowledge. We go to school, read, listen, learn and spend countless hours, days, weeks, months and years of our lives absorbing information so that we can know more.

But how are you increasing your imagination on a daily basis?

Imagination doesn’t just mean “creativity,” it means creative power and vision. It’s about acting on the curious impulses that inspire us and move us to feel something. It’s about thinking deeply about what’s next and about how we are going to be a part of it, change it, and make it better for the next generation.

As you learn today, as you study and work to increase your knowledge about this or that or the other thing...take some time to create something, too. What would that be like for you?

Just imagine...
