Slow Down and Enjoy the Thanksgiving Season

Life shouldn't be so complicated, but we sure are good at taking the extra step to make the easy difficult. I think back to my grandparents' era when things just moved at a slower pace and everyone seemed to enjoy everyday life a little more. Today, our calendars are so full with work and sports and events, events, events, that we forget to slow down enough to actually enjoy it all!

During this season of gratitude, let me challenge you to slow down, take a deep breath, unplug (yes, from all of your devices!), and ENJOY these precious moments with family and friends. It's not often we're given the time and space to enjoy these breaks from our chaotic lives, so take it all in and appreciate what you have right in front of you.

To help guide your steps through this Thanksgiving and Christmas season,  the team at FireSeeds and Wildsparq compiled a list our our favorite Scriptures as well as some famous quotes about gratitude for you to reference when the chaos becomes all consuming. We found inspiration in the Bible, in the words of famous authors, and even in the thoughts of some very wise cartoon vegetables. We hope these thoughts and prayers help carry you through the hustle and bustle of this holiday season.

Happy Thanksgiving! We are grateful for you!

I Chronicles 16:34
"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever."

"We ought to give thanks for all fortune: if it is good, because it is good, if bad, because it works in us patience, humility, and the contempt of this world and the hope of our eternal country."
~ C.S. Lewis

Psalm 100: 1-5
"Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!

Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!

For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

"It is only with gratitude that life becomes rich!"
~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Jeremiah 33:11
"Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good;
his love endures forever."

"A thankful heart is a happy heart."
~ VeggieTales

Philippians 4:6
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

"In happy moments, PRAISE GOD. In difficult moments, SEEK GOD. In quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD. In painful moments, TRUST GOD. Every moment, THANK GOD."
~ Rick Warren

Colossians 3:16-17
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

"A thankful heart is one of the primary identifying characteristics of a believer. It stands in stark contrast to pride, selfishness, and worry. And it helps fortify the believer's trust in the Lord and reliance of His provision, even in the toughest times. No matter how choppy the seas become, a believer's heart is buoyed by constant praise and gratefulness to the Lord."
–John MacArthur
