Learn to Lead

Dealing With Big Decisions

Mother Theresa once said, “Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.” Oftentimes, I become distracted by big decisions and the “more important” events in life, but the truth is we all make daily choices that collectively have a profound impact on our lives and the lives of those around us.

When we are met with big decisions in life, the influence of our family, friends, mentors, and fellow leaders make the most difference. That’s why we must continue to surround ourselves with people we respect and people who challenge us in all aspects of our development: mental, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual. The greatest leaders are the most inspired learners.

You Must Learn to Lead

I have learned almost everything I know about leadership by following people who inspire me. Inspiration is just as important—if not more so—than information. Anyone can possess knowledge, but great leaders are those who have been inspired to use what they know to do to make wise choices and do great things.  When we are inspired to do great things, our goals and dreams become more than benchmarks or action items to mark off a to-do list. They become the ante, and nothing less will ever satisfy.

How would your life be different if you lived every moment knowing that every action, reaction, decision, or indecision has the potential to impact the lives of others and possibly even change the world someday? What are you working on today that will matter tomorrow… or the next day? What about 10 years from now?
